Colour wheel and colour mixing

Objectives: At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• make colour wheel
• create shades of colour
• create tones of colours
• identify and making of colour
• paint the colour wheel
• illustrate colour relationship.

Requirements
Materials

• Compass - 1 No. • Cup of water - as reqd.
• Plastic scale - 1 No. • Poster colour - as reqd.
• Pencil (HB,2B to 6B) - 1 No. each • Eraser - 1 No.
• Sharpener - 1 No. • Waste cloth - as reqd.
• Palette - 1 No.
• Drawing sheet - 1 No.

PROCEDURE

TASK 1: Practice making the colour wheel
1 Take the drawing sheet. 5 Divide the circle with straight lines into 12 equal parts
from its center point. (Fig 3)
2 Mark a point at the center of the paper.

3 Fix a sharp pointed pencil on the compass. (Fig 1)

4 Draw a circle of 5cm radius with the marked point as
its mid point using compass and pencil. (Fig 2)
